Writing poetry had always been a quiet, private hobby, but in 1989, while planning my wedding, I discovered that my intended had no plans to make a speech. So I set about creating one myself — a long, rhyming, fully memorised piece complete with a musical chorus and even a sing‑along section for the guests. Its enthusiastic reception lit a spark in me, a desire to bring more of my writing into the light.
After thirty‑one happy years together, I am now a widow, and I’ve turned my spare time and creative energy toward Gift Acre, a place to share my poems and keep that joy alive.
